I came by train launched in October 2022 as a behaviour change campaign, created in response to the growing urgency of the climate crisis.
Transport is the highest carbon emitting sector in the UK, accounting for more than a quarter of our greenhouse gas emissions. 68% of those emissions are produced by cars*.
In order to hit the UK's Net Zero goal, we need to significantly reduce transport emissions. The answer is not to stop travelling, but to enable sustainable ways to do so. If everyone switched just one 200-mile journey a year from car to train, we could reduce the UK's CO2e emissions by 8 million metric tons by 2035.
A growing movement
The goal is simple: to help more people make greener travel choices, showcasing the positive impact collective action has.
We want to inspire the world to be proud to say 'I came by train'.
With that in mind, R&B legend Craig David released ‘Better Days’, we kicked off a bold campaign and thousands of people pledged to make the switch from car to train.
Groundbreaking partnerships
Since 2022, I came by train has grown into something far greater - driving sustainable fan travel through groundbreaking partnerships with Glastonbury Festival and Premier League football clubs, and executing award-winning modal shift campaigns.
We’re building a movement of organisations and individuals united by a shared goal: making train travel desirable, normal and habitual.
By working together, we can accelerate behaviour change and support the UK’s journey to Net Zero.
