Annabel Sergeant, Finance Reporting Analyst by day and Scotland Rugby Union star by night!  ?

How did you get started ?

I started playing when I went to university. A girl in the street stopped me and asked if I fancied having a go at rugby. I’d never been able to play it at school as they didn’t have a girls team but I’d always thought it looked fun. I had played hockey at school but as soon as I started playing rugby, I knew that was the sport for me!

What do you enjoy the most about it?

I love rugby because no matter where you are in the world, every rugby team is a family. No matter how large or small your club may be, there’s no other sport that can bring people from all walks of life together like rugby can.

What’s the main challenge ?

The main challenge for me is fitting in all my training alongside my work and personal life. I am often rushing from work to training, but once I’m there, all my worries and stresses are forgotten for a short time and I get to run around and have fun with my friends!

Do you have any advice to share with others who’d like to do the same?

If you’re interested in rugby, give it a go! Give me a shout if you need any help with finding a local club or team to join, the rugby community is well connected and I know lots of people around the world who would love to welcome new joiners.
